Commercial Building Demarcation Retermination

Hardwire Technology was contacted by a property management company in downtown Minneapolis to help them with a problem.  The existing riser distribution system was originally installed by the Bell System and the termination blocks in the demarcation room were beginning to fail.  The blocks had "66" style pins and the plastic block was breaking, causing the pins to short together.

Hardwire Technology provided a solution to their problem.  First, all existing circuits on the block to be replaced were identified and logged.  Then, a new termination rack was installed with 110 blocks.  300 pair pigtails were terminated on these blocks and run to an existing splice point where the Bell System blocks were spliced to the building riser cable.  The splice case was opened exposing 3M MS2 splices.  These splices were individually opened up, the wires to the old blocks were removed, and the new pigtail wires spliced into the riser.  As each 25 pair bundle was spliced, the tenant circuits on that bundle were recrossconnected and tested.  All splicing and recrossconnecting was done after regular business hours.

All work was completed over a 2 weekend time period.  Hardwire replaced a failing 600 pair block with approximately 250 tenant circuits and no errors!  Our customer was so pleased that they sent the following letter:

" I just want to let you know how much we appreciate your help with the 510 Marquette demarc project that took place this month. Everything went smooth and the minor glitches that we encountered following the project were taken care of in a timely and cordial manner. Bob was very knowledgable and professional. Thank you again for your hard work!!"

Qwest originally quoted this project to our customer at a substantial cost.  Hardwire Technology Corporation completed the same work for almost half the price!
